Sowing and germination
The seeds of morning glory biloba are relatively large for morning glory, hard, rounded-angular or almost spherical, usually dark brown or black. The shell is dense and waterproof, which is due to the natural distribution of seeds by sea water. Before sowing, careful scarification is appropriate: the shell is slightly filed or scratched on the opposite side of the embryo, without damaging the inside of the seed. Cold stratification is not required. After scarification, the seeds are soaked in a 1% solution of potassium permanganate for 1-2 hours, and then in warm water for 12-24 hours with the addition of a growth stimulator: balanced plant vitamin supplement, natural plant growth stimulant, amino-acid plant fertilizer, anti-stress adaptogen solution or root development stimulant. If an individual seed does not swell, the shell is further broken slightly and the soaking is repeated.
