Sowing and germination
Phocea seeds are flat, brown, equipped with a tuft of silky hairs for wind dispersal and ripen into dry, pod-like fruits. Before sowing, the hairs are carefully removed so as not to interfere with the contact of the seed with the soil. The seeds are kept for 1-2 hours in a 1% solution of potassium permanganate, then soaked for 12-24 hours in warm water with the addition of a seed-safe growth stimulant according to its label directions, seed-safe growth stimulant, seed-safe growth stimulant, seed-safe growth stimulant or seed-safe growth stimulant. Then they are sown in a loose mineral substrate to a depth approximately equal to the thickness of the seed, moistened with a spray bottle, covered with film or glass, or placed in a greenhouse and germinated warmly at 25-30°C. Under favorable conditions, the first shoots appear within 1-2 weeks, the main germination is usually completed within a month, and individual seeds may linger longer. The crops are ventilated daily; both waterlogging and drying out are unacceptable.
