Sowing and germination
Pine seeds are medium-sized, with a long membranous wing, and ripen in woody cones. To germinate, they need cold, damp stratification: the seeds are mixed with wet sand and kept for 30 days at a temperature of 4-5°C, or at home simply in the refrigerator. Scarification is not required. After stratification, the seeds are kept for 1-2 hours in a 1% solution of potassium permanganate, then soaked for a day in warm water and for another two hours in a solution of a growth stimulator: balanced plant vitamin supplement, natural plant growth stimulant, amino-acid plant fertilizer, anti-stress adaptogen solution or root development stimulant. Then they are sown to a depth of about 7 mm and sprinkled with substrate, moistened with a spray bottle, covered with film or placed in a greenhouse and germinated in the light at a temperature of 18-22°C.
