Sowing and germination

Eucalyptus seeds are very small, dark, and ripen in woody capsules. It is impractical to soak such small seeds, so the substrate itself is disinfected: before sowing, it is spilled with a weak solution of potassium permanganate and dried. Scarification and stratification are not required. Sowing is carried out in bowls or boxes with a mixture of equal parts of turf soil and sand, to a depth of no more than 5 mm, and better without seeding at all: in a number of eucalyptus trees, germination is light-dependent. The crops are moistened from a spray bottle with a solution of a growth stimulator: SUPERthrive, HB-101, Aminozol, Epin or Zircon, covered with glass or placed in a greenhouse and germinated in the light at a temperature of 18-20°C. Under favorable conditions, the first shoots appear already on the seventh day, the main germination is completed within 2-3 weeks, and individual seeds may linger longer.
