Sowing and germination

Banana seeds are large, round or pointed, very hard, 3-16 mm long, ripen in the pulp of the fruit. Their shell is extremely dense, so careful scarification is required before sowing: the seed is lightly filed without damaging the kernel. No stratification required. After scarification, the seeds are kept for 1-2 hours in a 1% solution of potassium permanganate, then soaked for 2-3 days in warm water with the addition of a growth stimulator: balanced plant vitamin supplement, natural plant growth stimulant, amino-acid plant fertilizer, anti-stress adaptogen solution or root development stimulant, while the water is periodically changed to fresh warm water. Then they are sown in a loose nutrient substrate of sand with peat to a depth of about 1 cm, moistened with a spray bottle, covered with film or placed in a greenhouse and germinated in the light, but not in direct sun, at a temperature of 27-35°C.
