Collectible plant! All 4 species are represented!
Greenovia from the Crassulaceae family is a 4-species evergreen endemic to the Canary Islands, discovered in the 19th century by the renowned English geologist George Greenough. In nature, they grow at elevations of 150-200 meters (490-660 ft) above sea level. Being closely related in origin to Aeonium, they have intergeneric hybrids with them. Greenovia is a miniature plant with a short, virtually absent stem, forming lush, decorative, dense rosettes 5 to 20 cm (2 to 8 in) in diameter of glaucous-green thin leaves. It blooms with erect yellow pubescent inflorescences. After flowering, the leaf rosette dies.
Greenovia diplocycla, Greenovia dodrentalis, and Greenovia aizoon, unlike the most common species in indoor cultivation, Greenovia aurea, are rare in home collections.
Golden Greenovia is a Canarian endemic with a short stem and a compact goblet-shaped rosette up to 20 cm (8 in) in diameter. It can produce numerous side rosettes on short stolons with thin glaucous-green leaves. It blooms with erect inflorescences of yellow flowers, after which development of the rosette ends.
