Sowing and germination

Milkweed seeds are round or ovoid, medium-sized, ripen in three-nest boxes, which crack when ripe and scatter the seeds. It is not advisable to soak them, so the substrate itself is disinfected: before sowing, it is spilled with a weak solution of potassium permanganate and dried. Scarification and stratification are not required. Sowing is carried out superficially or with slight penetration, no more than 2 mm, into a loose sandy-peat substrate. The crops are moistened from a spray bottle with a solution of a growth stimulator: SUPERthrive, HB-101, Aminozol, Epin or Zircon, placed in a greenhouse or covered with film and germinated in the light, but not under direct rays, at a temperature of 21-25°C. Under favorable conditions, the first shoots appear within 12 days, the main germination is completed in 12-25 days, and individual seeds can linger longer than 40 days.
