Sowing and germination
The skin of laurel seeds is tough and needs scarification. You can break the integrity of the seed shell with sandpaper or soak it in potassium permanganate for 2-3 days and carefully peel off the skin. Seeds are sown in a mixture of leaf (2 parts), turf (1 part) soil and sand (0.5 parts) to a depth of 1-1.5 cm, moistened with a spray bottle, covered with film and germinated in the light, but not in the sun at a temperature of 20-25 ° C. It is very important that the temperature does not fall below 18°C. The seedlings need ventilation. The soil should always be moist, but overmoistening and drying out the crops must be avoided. Shoots appear in 40-70 days. When 1-2 true leaves appear on the seedlings, they are transplanted into a large box with the same substrate at a distance of at least 2 cm from each other. When the seedlings become stronger, they are transplanted into individual pots with standard soil mixture for adult laurels.
