Sowing and germination

Umbilicus seeds are very small and photosensitive. It is impractical to soak such small seeds, so the substrate itself is disinfected: before sowing, it is spilled with a weak solution of potassium permanganate and dried. Scarification and stratification are not required. Sowing is carried out in the fall, superficially, without embedding: the seeds need light. A sterile, loose substrate with a top layer of washed sand is used. The crops are moistened from a spray bottle with a solution of a growth stimulator: SUPERthrive, HB-101, Aminozol, Epin or Zircon, covered with a transparent lid or placed in a greenhouse and germinated in diffused light and a temperature of 15-20°C. Shoots appear after 2-4 weeks, unevenly. The crops are ventilated daily and condensation is removed. Seedlings develop slowly and in the first season they mainly grow tubers; picking is carried out only after the plants have noticeably strengthened.
