Sowing and germination
The natural germination rate of Brugmansia seeds is about 70%. To increase the chances of germination, the seeds are first carefully scarified (using a sharp object to break the integrity of the hard shell), after which they are soaked for half an hour in a disinfecting solution of Potassium permanganate or Fitosporin, then dipped in a solution of Epin or another growth stimulant. After preliminary preparation, sowing is carried out in light soil to a depth of 0.5-1 cm, moistened with a spray bottle, covered with polyethylene or glass and kept at a temperature of 20-25ºC and bright, diffused light. The seedlings need ventilation. It is necessary to avoid waterlogging and drying out of crops. After the development of 3-4 true leaves, the seedlings are transplanted into separate containers. The main disadvantage of seed propagation is the long cultivation time. It takes 2-3 years from sowing to flowering.
