Monanthes ANAGENSIS - Anaga monanthes, Monanthes anagensis.
Perennial herbaceous plants or small dwarf shrubs from the family Crassulaceae, most often with short erect or creeping stems. Leaves are alternate (rarely opposite), fleshy. The inflorescence is racemose or umbellate. The flowers are 6-8 (or 5-9)-merous, greenish, greenish-brownish, or pinkish, on long pedicels, gathered in small racemose inflorescences. Stamens are twice as many as petals. Large nectariferous scales are located between petals and carpels. About 10 species are known. They are distributed in the Canary Islands. Some species form dense cushion-like clumps.
Monanthes anagensis is a herbaceous perennial or subshrub, heavily branched, up to 15 cm (6 in) high. The branches are gray, tortuous, glabrous. Leaves are alternate, sessile, glabrous, linear-elliptic or linear, about 2.5 cm (1 in) long, 0.4 cm (0.16 in) wide, 0.3 cm (0.12 in) thick, green, sometimes reddish. The inflorescence is terminal, a 2-6-flowered raceme. Flowers are 1 cm (0.4 in) in diameter, green-yellow with reddish filaments and yellow anthers.
