Faucaria MIXED

Faucaria MIXED - Faucaria, mixed seeds of various species.

"Living Stones" seed series.

Faucaria belongs to the ice plant family (Aizoaceae). The plants are native to South Africa. In nature, there are 36 species of leaf succulents growing in groups in arid regions. All of them have a shortened stem, short fleshy roots, and about 3 pairs of thick juicy leaves, usually arranged in a cross shape. They have either tubercles or long hair-like teeth along the leaf margin. They bloom with rather large flowers of various shades of yellow.

Faucaria subintegra is a succulent plant with light green leaves about 5 cm (2.0 in) long and 1 cm (0.4 in) wide, with dark green flecks and 1-3 teeth along the leaf margin. The flowers are yellow, up to 4 cm (1.6 in) in diameter.

Propagated by seeds. Surface sowing under film/glass. Seeds germinate at a temperature of 20 °C (68 °F). An example of a soil mix for sowing: 2 parts cactus substrate, 1 part sand with a diameter of 1 mm (0.04 in), and 1 part perlite.

Faucaria is grown mostly as houseplants. During the warm season, they can be placed on balconies and terraces, but in autumn they should be brought indoors. Soil mix for cultivation is composed of fertile soil and sand (1:1), pH about 6. Typically, plants are fertilized 3 times during the spring-summer period - fertilizer for cactus crops is added to the irrigation water. The main growth occurs in summer. Plants of the genus Faucaria grow and develop well at room temperature; in winter, the temperature is 5-15 °C (41-59 °F). The location for faucaria should be very well lit, but on hot days the plant should be shaded from direct sunlight. In spring, plants should be watered carefully and moderately. Then in summer they are watered regularly and frequently. Later, in autumn, watering is reduced, and in winter they are not watered at all. Repotting is done in spring once every 2-3 years, at the end of the dormancy period. To maintain appearance, faded flowers and damaged parts are removed.
