Sowing and germination

Seeds are sown in a mixture of leaf soil and coarse river sand on top of a layer of expanded clay (it is possible to use a mixture of substrate for cacti and sand), moistened with a spray bottle, covered with film and germinated in the light, but not in the sun at a temperature of 21-25°C. The seedlings need ventilation. It is necessary to avoid waterlogging and drying out of crops. With an optimal maintenance regime, already at one year of age, seedlings develop a stable root system, which allows them to be used as rootstocks for slow-growing seedlings of other types of cacti, for example, ariocarpus and valuable cultivars of astrophytums.
