Hardenbergia VIOLACEA 'ALBA' - White Hardenbergia, Hardenbergia violacea 'Alba', White False Sarsaparilla.
Hardenbergia is an evergreen vine, a vigorous climbing or trailing plant of the Fabaceae family, with 3 species in the genus. It is distributed in South and Eastern Australia.
The plant's shoots are up to 2 m (6.6 ft) long. The leaves are leathery, elongated in shape, rich green with a white central vein. Up to three long racemes strewn with numerous beautiful flowers emerge from each leaf node. The flowers can come in various colors: white, blue, yellow, pink, or light blue. In shape, they are pea-like (papilionaceous), typical of the legume family. On the upper petals there are two white eyes with green centers, giving the vine additional attractiveness and even a fanciful look. They possess a pleasant, light fragrance. The flowering period is from March to September.
A blooming Hardenbergia simultaneously resembles wisteria or acacia with their incredibly beautiful clusters. Abundant inflorescences of small flowers adorn the plant from March to August and fill the home with a delicate aroma. Unlike its other sun-loving relatives, Hardenbergia prefers bright diffused light or partial shade.
Hardenbergia violacea 'Alba' is a vigorous vine with a wiry, slender stem. The leaves are lanceolate-oblong, clustered in threes. Occasionally specimens are found with one fully formed leaf and two undeveloped ones. The flower clusters are loose, composed of small white flowers. This cultivar blooms from March to June.
