Sowing and germination
Syzygium drupe, as a rule, contains 1-2 seeds (rarely up to 4). You can try to open the capsule and release the seed, but there is a high probability of damaging it, so scarification is not recommended. The seeds are pre-soaked for 12-72 hours in twice the volume of warm or hot water; the water is absorbed by the dry seeds, and the moisture content first quickly increases and then levels off. Soaking time varies depending on the thickness of the seed shell; the thicker it is, the longer. The seeds swell, which can cause the shell to burst. Prepared seeds are sown in a light peat-sand mixture to a depth of 1.5-2 cm, moistened with a spray bottle, placed in a greenhouse or covered with film and germinated in the light, but not in the sun at a temperature of 20-25°C. The seedlings need ventilation.
