Werauhia ORORIENSIS - Orosi werauhia, Werauhia ororiensis, Vriesea, Thecophyllum.
Werauhia is a genus of epiphytic and terrestrial plants in the Bromeliaceae family, comprising about 80 species native to tropical regions of Central and South America. Plants are adapted to living in conditions of high humidity and possess a pronounced rosette of dense leaves.
Leaves are usually broad, sword-shaped, gathered in a dense funnel-shaped rosette capable of accumulating water. The peduncle is central, straight or drooping, often brightly colored. The inflorescence consists of numerous flowers with bracts, and can be simple or branched. Flowering is often accompanied by bright coloration of the central leaves.
Orosi werauhia is a rare species with rigid lanceolate leaves up to 50 cm (19.7 in) long gathered in a dense rosette. The peduncle is erect, with bright purple bracts. Flowers are tubular, cream or greenish-white, gathered in a compact terminal inflorescence. After flowering, the rosette gradually dies off, forming basal offsets.
