Sowing and germination

Before sowing, seeds can be soaked for 10-12 hours in warm water or a weak solution of a biofungicide with the addition of a growth stimulator: SUPERthrive, HB-101, Aminozol, Epin or Zircon. A loose, sterile seeding substrate is used based on sifted peat, leaf soil, fine perlite and a small amount of washed sand. The seeds are buried approximately 5 mm, the sowing is moistened with a spray bottle, covered with a transparent lid or placed in a greenhouse. Germination is carried out in the dark or in strong shade, at a temperature of 15-18°C. The crops are briefly ventilated daily, condensation is removed, and the surface of the substrate is kept slightly moist, but not wet. Overmoistening and overheating are undesirable, as they increase the risk of rotting of seeds and young nodules. The first shoots may appear after 21-30 days, but germination in cyclamens is often extended and can take 6-12 weeks, and longer for some seeds.
