Sowing and germination
Mint seeds are very small, usually brown or dark brown, round or oval. Sowing is carried out in the spring or, if there is lighting, year-round. A sterile fine-structured substrate is used based on sifted peat or coconut components with the addition of perlite. The seeds are distributed over the surface of the moist soil, lightly pressed and not buried, since they need light to germinate. Preventive treatment is carried out by carefully moistening the already completed sowing from a spray bottle with a weak solution of potassium permanganate or a biofungicide with the addition of a growth stimulator: balanced plant vitamin supplement, natural plant growth stimulant, amino-acid plant fertilizer, anti-stress adaptogen solution or root development stimulant. The container is covered with a transparent lid or placed in a greenhouse. Germination is carried out in bright, diffused light and a temperature of about 18-24°C.
