Sowing and germination

Osmanthus seeds are located inside the drupe and have a hard shell. It is important to take into account the possible deep dormancy of seeds and the fact that germination can be very extended. For osmanthus seeds, combined wet stratification is appropriate. Before sowing, the seeds are kept for 1-2 hours in a 1% solution of potassium permanganate, then soaked in warm water for 12-24 hours. A growth stimulator is added to the water: balanced plant vitamin supplement, natural plant growth stimulant, amino-acid plant fertilizer, anti-stress adaptogen solution or root development stimulant. Next, the seeds are stratified: first they are placed for about 3 months in a moderately warm, slightly moist substrate in room conditions, then they are kept for about 3 months in cold conditions, also in a slightly moist substrate.
