Sowing and germination

Black-trunked acacia seeds are small, with a hard, waterproof shell, which greatly slows down germination without damage, but allows the seeds to remain viable in the soil for decades. Scarification works most reliably: the shell is carefully sawed or scratched with a hard instrument so as not to damage the seed itself; for small seeds, short-term scalding with hot (~80°C) water is also suitable. After scarification, the seeds are soaked in a 1% solution of potassium permanganate for 1-2 hours, and then for 12-24 hours in warm water with the addition of a growth stimulator: balanced plant vitamin supplement, natural plant growth stimulant, amino-acid plant fertilizer, anti-stress adaptogen solution or root development stimulant.
