Sowing and germination
The seeds of Peltoforum alata are flat, oval, dark brown, about 1 cm long, enclosed in a dense, indehiscent winged bean. The shell is hard and poorly permeable to water, which greatly slows down germination without pre-treatment. Before sowing, the seeds are poured with hot, almost boiling water (90-95°C) and left to cool in the same water for 24 hours - this treatment effectively destroys the hard shell. After this, the seeds are soaked in a 1% solution of potassium permanganate for 1-2 hours, and then for 12-24 hours in warm water with the addition of a growth stimulator: balanced plant vitamin supplement, natural plant growth stimulant, amino-acid plant fertilizer, anti-stress adaptogen solution or root development stimulant.
