Sowing and germination
Morning glory seeds are large, dense, dark, ripen in dry boxes. Their shell is hard, so the seeds need pre-treatment before sowing. No stratification required. The seeds are kept for 1-2 hours in a 1% solution of potassium permanganate, then soaked for 24 hours in warm water with the addition of a growth stimulator: SUPERthrive, HB-101, Aminozol, Epin or Zircon. Seeds that have not swollen during this time are lightly pricked with a needle or rubbed with sandpaper and soaked again. The swollen seeds are sown in a mixture of peat and sand to a depth of 0.5-1 cm, moistened with a spray bottle, covered with film or placed in a greenhouse and germinated in the light, but not in direct sun, at a temperature of 22-27°C. Under favorable conditions, the first shoots appear within 10 days, the main germination is completed in 10-15 days, and individual seeds may linger longer.
