Sowing and germination
Cordia seed is large, dense, enclosed in a fleshy drupe. Its shell is hard, so the seeds need pre-treatment before sowing. Scarification and stratification are not required. The seeds are kept for 1-2 hours in a 1% solution of potassium permanganate, then soaked for 6-12 hours in warm water with the addition of a growth stimulator: SUPERthrive, HB-101, Aminozol, Epin or Zircon. Then they are sown in a loose nutrient substrate to a depth of about 1 cm, moistened with a spray bottle, covered with film or glass, or placed in a greenhouse and germinated warmly, at a temperature of 24-28°C. Under favorable conditions, the first shoots appear within 2-3 weeks, the main germination lasts for 1-2 months, and individual seeds can linger longer. Crops are regularly ventilated; overmoistening and drying out are unacceptable. Picking is carried out after the formation of 2-3 true leaves, in separate deep pots.
