Sowing and germination

Neltuma seeds are dense, light or reddish brown, oblong, flattened, ripen in indehiscent beans. Their shell is very hard, so scarification is required before sowing: the seeds are cut or sawed off without damaging the kernel. No stratification required. After scarification, the seeds are kept for 1-2 hours in a 1% solution of potassium permanganate, then soaked for 24 hours in warm water with the addition of a growth stimulator: SUPERthrive, HB-101, Aminozol, Epin or Zircon. Then they are sown in a moist nutrient substrate to a depth of about 1 cm, moistened with a spray bottle, covered with film or placed in a greenhouse and germinated in the light at a temperature of 23-28°C. Under favorable conditions, the first shoots appear within a week, the main germination is completed within 2-3 weeks, and individual seeds may linger longer.
