Sowing and germination

The seeds of Switenia are large, flat, with a wide dry wing, and do not retain germination for long. Before sowing, the wing is broken off, and the seed itself is soaked for 12-24 hours in warm water or in a solution of a growth stimulator: SUPERthrive, HB-101, Aminozol, Epin or Zircon. Scarification and stratification are not required. Sowing is carried out in a sterile loose substrate of peat and sand, the seed is buried approximately 1 cm and placed edge-on, wing up. The crops are moistened with a spray bottle, covered with a transparent lid or placed in a greenhouse and germinated at a temperature of 25-30°C. Shoots appear in 2-4 weeks. The crops are ventilated daily, condensation is removed, and waterlogging is unacceptable. Seedlings grow quickly, so planting them in separate deep pots is carried out immediately after the first pair of true leaves unfold.
