Sowing and germination
Enterolobium seeds are large, heavy, with a very dense, durable shell, due to which they remain viable for years. Before sowing, scarification is required: the shell is carefully sawed off or pierced on the side, away from the embryo. After this, the seeds are soaked for 12-24 hours in warm water or in a solution of a growth stimulator: SUPERthrive, HB-101, Aminozol, Epin or Zircon until noticeable swelling. No stratification required. The swollen seeds are sown in a sterile loose substrate of peat and sand to a depth of 1.5-2 cm. The sowing is moistened with a spray bottle, covered with a transparent lid or placed in a greenhouse and germinated at a temperature of 25-30°C, preferably with bottom heating. Shoots appear in 1-3 weeks; unswollen seeds may linger longer. The crops are ventilated daily and condensation is removed.
