Sowing and germination
Tree pliers seeds are stratified for 3-4 months in a cold environment at a temperature of 4-5°C. At home, the seeds are placed in the refrigerator. Before planting, the seeds are soaked for 24 hours, then sown to a depth of 1.5-2 cm and sprinkled with a layer of soil. Moisturized from spray bottle, covered with film and germinated in the light at a temperature of 21-22°C. The seedlings need ventilation. It is necessary to avoid waterlogging and drying out of crops. Tree pliers are a dioecious plant, and it is impossible to determine the sex by seedlings: it appears only with the first flowering, in the fourth or fifth year. To get fruits, several seedlings are grown and planted in a group, leaving one male specimen for every five to six females. Seedlings of the first year grow slowly and overwinter under cover, and from the second season they begin to grow rapidly and already require support.
