Sowing and germination
Seeds are sown in a loose substrate, spreading the seeds superficially into the prepared soil and lightly sprinkled with loose substrate or sand, moistened with a spray bottle, covered with a film and germinated in the light, but not in the sun. Bottom heating for germination is not necessary; seeds germinate already at 14-20°C. The seedlings need ventilation. It is necessary to avoid waterlogging and drying out of crops. The seeds are small and germinate unevenly. The first shoots may appear only 1.5 months after sowing. The peculiarity of growing hydrangea from seeds is the obligatory two-stage picking of seedlings, the first of which is carried out in the state of cotyledon leaves. The second picking is carried out under conditions of good lighting and high temperature. Seedlings are planted in separate pots and taken outside in the daytime for hardening.
