Sowing and germination
Rhododendron seeds are very small, dusty, light brown, ripening in dry oblong boxes that open with flaps. Sowing is carried out from late winter to spring or year-round in the presence of lighting and stable cool temperatures. A sterile acidic substrate is used based on sifted peat, crushed peat moss, perlite and a small amount of washed sand. Seeds are sown superficially, not covered with soil, but only lightly pressed against a damp surface, since light is needed for germination. The crops are moistened from a spray bottle with a weak solution of a growth stimulator from a spray bottle - SUPERthrive, HB-101, Aminozol, Epin or Zircon are used. The planting container is covered with a transparent lid or placed in a greenhouse, where the temperature is maintained at 18-22°C, bright diffused light is provided for 16-18 hours a day and short ventilation daily.
