Agapanthus PRAECOX 'BLUE' - Blue Lily of the Nile, African Lily 'Blue'.
Perennial herbaceous plants with fleshy rhizomes belonging to the Agapanthaceae family. Species of the genus originate from southern Africa, from the Cape Province to Limpopo. The leaves are dense and strap-shaped. The leaf blades form a basal rosette. During flowering, agapanthus produces a long peduncle that can reach up to 1 m (3.3 ft) in height. The flowers of this plant are gathered in large umbel-like inflorescences colored white, blue, or blue-purple. In an indoor environment, Agapanthus africanus thrives best. Its leaf blades often reach 35 cm (13.8 in) in length, and the inflorescence diameter is 20 cm (7.9 in).
Blue agapanthus is a plant with a thick fleshy root. The agapanthus leaves are long and basal, clustered into rosettes. During flowering, the plant sends up a flower stalk up to 70 cm (27.6 in) tall with a large number of white, blue, or lilac flowers gathered in an umbel inflorescence. The flowers open gradually, so flowering can last up to two months.
