Agapanthus PRAECOX 'ALBA' - White Lily of the Nile, African Lily 'Alba'.
Perennial herbaceous plants with fleshy rhizomes belonging to the Agapanthaceae family. Species of the genus originate from southern Africa, from the Cape Province to Limpopo. The leaves are dense and strap-shaped. The leaf blades form a basal rosette. During flowering, agapanthus produces a long peduncle that can reach up to 1 m (3.3 ft) in height. The flowers of this plant are gathered in large umbel-like inflorescences colored white, blue, or blue-purple. In an indoor environment, Agapanthus africanus thrives best. Its leaf blades often reach 35 cm (13.8 in) in length, and the inflorescence diameter is 20 cm (7.9 in).
White agapanthus is a variable species with open flowers. It is a perennial plant capable of surviving for up to 75 years. Its evergreen leaves are 2 cm (0.8 in) wide and 50 cm (19.7 in) long. Its inflorescence is an umbel. Agapanthus flowers are blue, purple, or white, blooming in summer. They produce capsules filled with small black seeds (which are stored in cool sand until sowing). Its stem reaches up to a meter in height. Its roots are very powerful and can damage concrete.
