Chaenomeles JAPONICA

Sowing and germination

• When sowing in spring, 2-3 months of seed stratification in damp sand at a temperature of 0 - 3°C is necessary.
• In order for the seeds to germinate at home, they need to create an artificial “winter”.
• To do this, place the seeds in a container with moist soil, sprinkle with a thin layer of the same moist soil, cover the container with a plastic bag with holes for ventilation and place in a cool place for a couple of months.
• The bottom shelf of the refrigerator is ideal for this; you can also place the container on the windowsill between the frames.
• Some seeds can germinate at the end of the stratification process.
• Then remove the container with stratified seeds from the refrigerator, sprinkle them with soil on top so that they are at a depth of about 1 cm, cover with glass or a plastic bag and keep in a bright place at room temperature.
• With regular spraying, there is practically no need to water the soil.
