Random mixture of colors.
Petunia is a genus of herbaceous plants in the nightshade family (Solanaceae). It includes about 20 species and is native to South America.
Members of the genus are annuals or perennials with branching, pubescent stems. The leaves are entire, petiolate, most often oval in shape, arranged oppositely or alternately. The surface of leaves and stems is softly pubescent, especially in young plants.
Flowering is abundant and prolonged, lasting from late spring to autumn. The flowers are funnel-shaped, large, with five fused petals, situated at the shoot tips or in leaf axils. Coloration varies from white to violet, often with a contrasting eye. The fruit is a capsule with minute, dust-like seeds.
Dwarf petunia is a compact plant up to 25 cm (9.8 in) in height. The stems branch densely, forming a tight bush. The leaves are green, small, softly pubescent. The stem surface is velvety, especially in young shoots.
Flowering begins in May and continues until frost. The flowers are funnel-shaped, deep red with a velvety surface, up to 5 cm (2.0 in) in diameter, gathered at the tops of the shoots. The fruits are dry capsules with small brownish seeds that maintain viability for up to 3 years.
